Day 1 (July 16) - NAIROBI - Today we land in Kenya's capital city of Nairobi. Our accommodations for the night will be at the Safari Park Hotel, located on the outskirts of the city. After being transferred to our hotel we will have a brief orientation followed by a champagne toast. Spend the afternoon at your leisure relaxing by Safari Park's large free-form pool, or perhaps by exploring its lushly landscaped 64-acre grounds.

This afternoon we will embark on our first game drive in Nairobi National Park. This park is the perfect location for us to become acquainted with Kenya's diverse wildlife and provides the unique opportunity to observe and photograph them against the dramatic backdrop of Nairobi's skyline. We can expect to encounter a variety of species including zebras, wildebeests, hartebeests, ostriches, Masai giraffes, and if we are lucky perhaps lions. In addition, this park will afford us one of our best opportunities to photograph the rare and highly endangered black rhinoceros.

This evening will find us enjoying our special welcome dinner at Nairobi's most famous restaurant - The Carnivore. Designed around a beautiful garden setting the Carnivore Restaurant lives up to its name, serving all varieties of meat from its huge center smoke pit in all-you-can-eat fashion, including exotic varieties of wild game such as crocodile, ostrich, and zebra. A special vegetarian platter is also offered for those who choose. Overnight Safari Park Hotel (D)
