Day 3 (July 18) - SAMBURU GAME RESERVE - Early this morning a ranger-lead game walk is offered to anyone who chooses, or you may choose simply to relax before departure. After breakfast we will depart Sweetwaters and head north to our new destination. During our drive we will remain alert for any unusual or interesting photographic scenes that may arise.

We will arrive in time for lunch at our new destination and home for the next three days - Samburu Serena Lodge. Our lodge is set amidst a riverine forest on the edge of the Ewaso Nyiro River. From the patio and sparkling pool we can photograph the resident hippos and huge crocodiles that make the river their home. The lodge offers a host of special activities from ceremonial dancing of the local Samburu Tribe, to Samburu-lead camel treks through the surrounding desert, to resident guided nature walks through the forest, all of which we will take advantage of during our stay. In the evening the hotel staff feeds the Nile crocodiles in an attempt to lure them onto shore, creating a wonderful stage for close-up photography of these giant reptiles. After dark, spotlighted acacia trees on the river's edge are baited to attract the many leopards that frequent the area. Overnight Samburu Serena Lodge (B, L, D)
